Tours, November 28, 2024. On November 28, the coordinator of the SICAPERMA project presented the progress and main features of this innovative initiative in Tours, France, as part of the NEOLAIA Alliance. The event brought together over 40 representatives from the nine universities across nine European Union countries that form the alliance, aiming to promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices in research and sustainable development.

After outlining the main characteristics of the SICAPERMA project, such as participants, duration, and budget, the presentation focused on the key aspects of the SICAPERMA project, whose primary goal is the recycling, manufacturing, and integration of permanent magnets from recycled materials. Through this technology, the project seeks to provide sustainable solutions for the industry, fostering a circular economy and reducing the environmental impact associated with the production and disposal of these magnets.

The project coordinator highlighted SICAPERMA’s international impact, including the creation of 21 recycling plants across various regions in Europe. These facilities will not only reduce waste and enable resource reuse but also generate approximately 5,900 direct jobs, representing a significant opportunity for green and sustainable job creation within the European Union.

The project also carries a strong environmental component, as it will contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, saving water, and mitigating soil acidification. These actions are critical in addressing global environmental challenges while driving the transition to a more responsible and circular economic model.

The presentation in Tours featured active participation from representatives of the countries that are part of the Neolaia Alliance, who expressed great interest in SICAPERMA's advancements and its potential to transform the recycling and renewable energy sectors. Attendees agreed on the importance of continuing to support initiatives that promote technological innovation, sustainable job creation, and international cooperation in sustainability efforts.
