About SICAPERMA

Sustainable Innovation investment Catapult for Permanent Magnets -SICAPERMA- is a 2.5-year project launched in October 2024, co-funded by the European Union’s Interregional Innovation Investments (i3) instrument.

SICAPERMA aims to establish and demonstrate the profitability and technical feasibility of an innovative and interregional value chain for PM recycling in less developed and transition regions. To that aim, an integrated pan-EU Ecosystem will be built around 3 interregional SME-driven demo pilots. These will demonstrate PM recycling tech and resulting output for 3 different sectors. We will provide impact deployment activities to boost the creation of urban mines11 and enable the deployment of impacts

Our Goals

  • 1. Achieve the technological maturation of Nd-Fe-B Sintered and Bonded recycling Tech across TRL7-8 toward TRL9.
  • 2. Demonstrate economically viable Sintered Nd-Fe-B PM and Bonded PM tech at industrial scale.
  • 3. Attract, engage, and retain EU PM players in a structured PM recycling value chain ecosystem built across EU regions.
  • 4. Deploy PM recycling processes across EU regions for a larger, EU- scale replication.
  • 5. Leveraging private and public funding and support for investment projects.
